Last week was an overdose of Chinese food. Okay, maybe not the entire week. But 2 days in a row is ENOUGH. I mean, a BUFFET with steamboat on Thursday, plus dim sum on Friday? I will avoid Chinese food this week, thanks.

We went to Dim Joy on a Friday night, and it was surprisingly empty. Guess everyone's at pubs or something since its a Friday. It was nice being one of the few in the restaurant, except that we should have probably sat further away from the wait staff 'cause it was kinda awkward with them standing so close and watching us eat. LOL. That said, I love the service that Dim Joy provides. The waiters and waitresses are really attentive (probably also due to the fact that there were few people, but the last time Nat and I went, they gave good service too), and are all REALLY NICE PEOPLE. :D :D I would go back for their egg tarts (best I've eaten, actually), custard buns, charsiew buns, shrimp dumplings, pan-fried radish and their dessert. Shulian doesn't like durian (OH THE BLASPHEMY) so I couldn't order it, but I really like their durian dessert. :D Go to Dim Joy, people!

This song is quite old, but I only started listening to it a few days ago after hearing it on tv. I've never heard the whole song before, only the chorus, and I decided that I didn't like it. LOL.

 SADDEST VIDEO I'VE SEEN TODAY:

Yup, its my current favourite song. LOL.

Forgot to mention, I went to this Japanese restaurant last week, called Hanabi. IT WAS GOOD, I TELL YOU. Its an ala-carte buffet restaurant, and totally worth it because of its extensive menu offerings. So, a little pricey...but just order a few mixed platters of fish and I'm sure you would have gotten your money back. I'm not a veteran of Japanese cuisine (this means that I don't go around the whole of Singapore trying out all Japanese restaurants, and yes, this also means that I havent gone to Japan itself to try the food) but this restaurant has got to have the freshest salmon I've ever tried! I'm usually kind of wary of raw fish, and I will always wait for people around me to eat first and tell me if there's a fishy smell before I pick up my chopsticks, so it says quite alot if I happily stuff the whole piece of fish into my mouth. The rest of the food that we ordered didn't disappoint too. I'm thinking of the yaki niku, ebi tempura, chicken in black pepper sauce, and the fish of course, now. HUNGRY. ):

And yesterday, I finally went to Sinema Old School for the first time in my life. It was not an easy task climbing up that stairs in heels. Not to mention realising how unfit I am, omg. But I enjoyed the movie. (: It was a nice change from what we're used to seeing at the cinema. If only they'll have a more...accessible...easier way to get up there. Not everyone has a car lor. Pfffttt.

OMG. I ate so much today that I will attempt to control what goes into my mouth for the rest of this week. (This is sad. Today is only Tuesday.) I ate so much junk, that I didn't had any proper food today, like rice or whatever.

I had some bread in the morning before going school.

After the first lecture, I had soya bean milk and a pancake 'cause I thought I won't have time later on for lunch.

After the second lecture, since it ended REALLY REALLY EARLY, I went for lunch with Belle and Nat at JP's BK. (Note: fast food is not considered a proper meal.)

I had to meet Juliana and the rest at around 4 for a movie, but because everybody was late, we decided to catch a later show. So Juliana and Cher were super hungry and wanted to go for lunch. I decided to have an ice-cream sundae or I would just be sitting there staring at them eat.

After the movie, those girls suggested going Gelare for waffles and ice-cream since there is 50% off on Tuesdays.

I WENT HOME AND HAD DIARRHOEA. ):

Sorry girls, if I was a little out of sorts (LOL Angela even asked if I was angry at one point in time, WTF.) but my stomach was slightly bothering me just now. Hahaha.

I should probably not do such stupid things from now on.

Haven't updated for a week! I wanted to blog about my virgin experience to Kuishin-Bo. But I fell sick on Thursday and was too sleepy and lazy to blog about it. Still having a flu and cough now, but at least I'm not sick until I'm too lazy to come online. Haha.

Anyway, Kuishin-Bo was good and expensive! We already paid a slightly lower price on Wednesday 'cause it was Ladies' Night, but damn, I'm not made to go for such buffets on regular basis. I thought their sushi was just okaay, (And yes I got scolded for taking the sushi because everybody was aiming sashimi and the Alaskan crab legs etc- aiyah how I know right. LOL.) nothing spectacular. But their salmon was !! I think the chefs had to keep slicing so that there's enough for everyone. Their chawanmushi is especially good too, and I'm so not a chawanmushi fan I tell you. As in, I never knew what's the big deal with chawanmushi when I see everybody like die-die must order at Sakae or other Japanese restaurants. But Kuishin-Bo's chawanmushi is different! It has more flavour and it doesn't get jelak halfway. They also have a wide variety of tempura (prawn is very fresh!), teppanyaki (soft and tastes really like how teppanyaki should be), paper steamboat thingy. And the Alaskan crab that I mentioned earlier. I think everyone goes for that when they dine at Kuishin-Bo. Just eat that and it's worth the buffet price already. They also have quite a range of desserts. I love the tarts! Though they're not like, anything special or what. LOL. But I love this kind of fruit tarts. I miss them ever since I stopped working as a banquet waitress. Besides the tarts there are other kinds of desserts also, though I can't really recall 'cause you know, we basically shove different kinds together on plates and just eat. LOL. There's also chocolate fondue, but I was too stuffed to be bothered.

Kuishin-Bo also have this special item thingy that they'll announced with some stupid-sounding jingle every now and then. Cher, Jian Wei and I looked on with amusement as Serene and XJ chionged for it. LOL. It turned out to be some fish that we didn't even finish I think. 'Cause we were already damn full. (And I'm not a big fan of fish. As in, I don't mind them, but I don't exactly whoop around in joy when I see them.) Hahaha. What a Singaporean thing to do- don't even know what's the 'special item', just get it first then say. But all in all, the food was really worth the money, just that it's definitely not something you want to eat everyday. Too expensive to be everyday fare, and too much Japanese food in one go. (:

Okay, getting a little giddy already. Shall go off now!

Today I finally met up with Kat and Nadifa. Like, since school ended for the holidays. It's amazing how during the long holidays sometimes you don't see people (that you see in school almost everyday) AT ALL, or at the most once or twice. That holds true even for close friends. I wonder why. Too busy? But anybody can make time if they want- I've always believed in that. I guess effort is a greater key to maintaining relationships. And erm, Kat and Nad, don't worry I'm not refering to you guys. HAHAHA. Anyway, really enjoyed tonight's dinner! I got a shock when I saw that it was already 9 plus when we left Changing Appetite, I still thought it was 7 plus. I know, what a big difference right. This means we ate for like...2 hrs? I think it was even longer than that. LOL. We seriously can talk for damn long man. Changing Appetite was not too bad, though pricing is a little steep for food of that standard. Hmm. Their desserts section is a better option. Not super cheap also, but at least it's value for money 'cause I thought the dessert was quite good (though not a wide selection, I would say). Trying Miss Clarity Cafe tomorrow! (:

THIS MORNING'S REGISTRATION FOR MODULES WAS A NIGHTMARE. EVERYTHING IS ON THE WAITLIST. HOW FANTASTIC IF I JUST END UP WITH 2 MODULES NEXT SEM (THE 2 THAT ARE ALREADY REGISTERED FOR US). UGH. NOW MUST WAIT FOR THE EQUALLY NIGHTMARISH ADD/DROP PERIOD WHICH IS NOT MUCH BETTER. AND I WILL ONCE AGAIN, COMPROMISE WHAT I WOULD REALLY LIKE TO DO AND TAKE SOME MODULE THAT I GUESS I DON'T MIND DOING. PLEASE NOTE THE DIFFERENCE. SIGH. GUESS YOU CAN'T HAVE EVERYTHING IN LIFE.

Oh and because I gave my word...

Click on the above link and show some love to my friend's site! (: I do think the clothes are quite pretty. Not saying that just because it's my friend's site! Haha.

I apologise for the very grainy pictures taken with my phone. LOL. The scenery was really more beautiful than this.

grainy pictures under the cut; i am ashamed of my phone )
Given that scenery, I still got to admit that food at Raffles Marina was over-priced and I think their so-called local food cannot be compared to our hawker fare. After I pointed that out to my parents, they sort of gave me a lecture on how I shouldn't look at their prices and went on about how its okay since we don't always pay so much for such food and that the sceney justifies the prices. Erm I didn't think that was my point, but oh well, we're really looking at things differently. 'Cause I don't think its okay since we can get much better food at hawker centres. Its not about the prices but whether they're delivering the goods with those prices. LOL. Ah nevermind. Whatever rocks their boat. But this reminds me of one of my HW meetings, where we cannot find a place for discussion, and ended up at the cafe at Raffles Hotel. My friend paid like more than 10 bucks for mee goreng?! And it wasn't fantastic mee goreng, it was just a big portion that's all. Next time if I have any friends from overseas coming here for holidays, I am so bringing them to hawker centres. Yup, that's me being a good host. (:

Thinking of hawker food is making me crave food from Chomp Chomp and East Coast's Lagoon. I'm thinking satay, stingray, gonggong, chicken wings, sugar cane, tau huay, carrot cake etc etc.

I had some thoughts after the dinner with XJ and the rest on Thursday, but I decided my drama was more important. LOL. So now, I'm kinda lazy to blog out my thoughts already. Oh well. I'll do it when the feeling strikes again.

And the drama that made me neglect all other possible things to do was 爱杀17/Bump Off Lover. Shit its good, I tell you! For the first time ever, I finished a drama in 3 days. Non-stop watching. All 14 episodes. This is usually impossible because I am a lazy person by nature, and 2 or 3 episodes in a day is really my maximum. Now I can tell you my highest record is now 8 episodes in a day (Friday). LOL. I think I almost went blind from staring at the screen. Its super different from the usual taiwanese dramas because its a freaking murder mystery. Somebody please watch it so that I can rave to you. Hahaha. I guess it doesn't take Sherlock Holmes to guess who was the murderer after a few episodes in, but I love the way all the secrets and mystery unfolded. I was seriously like, 'OMG I must continue this' one episode after another, which frankly speaking, very few dramas have the same effect. 张韶涵/Angela Zhang so deserved a Best Actress award for this. Stupid dramas like 公主小妹/Romantic Princess didn't do her justice at all. And you can see her improvement from MVP情人. The other cast members were good too. I'm glad I watched it without reading the synopsis or knowing what's going to happen. Its more shiok that way when everything gets revealed and answered later on.

Oh dinner on Thursday with the girls was at a small restaurant/cafe/bar at Dhoby Gaut, opposite Paradiz Centre. Its called Alps Cafe. VERY reasonable pricing, food was not bad and super friendly and attentive staff. Thumbs up for the service! (: It would be a good place for a cosy, quiet dinner because of its ambience, if not for the one or two groups of people who made a hell lot of noise, punctuated by hokkien expletives. It would have been funny because they contrasted with the classy setting, but they disturbed my dinner...so...oh well. LOL. Also, they had this karaoke system in which people can sing if they want to, and my only gripe is that they kept it on ALL THE TIME. Even when nobody is singing so its like loud radio non-stop. Since the waitress is like openly in love with 183 Club, annoying 183 Club songs came on a few times (Okay okay, only twice I think, but still!). Hahaha. I think they should have switched the thing off when nobody wants to sing, so that we don't have to talk louder. And by reasonable pricing, I really meant reasonable. For a main course, soup, dessert, plus another chocolate fondue, GST and service charges, all of us split the bill equally and it came up to about 20 dollars per person. I wouldn't mind going back a second time. (:

Before I forget,
HAPPY 20TH BIRTHDAY, SHU LIAN! I don't think that girl will read this, but I just thought I should still wish her happy birthday here. Miss her loads! Its strange how we can always just easily catch up even though we only meet once in months, during holidays. LOL.

Yay. Harold & Kumar on Monday. (: Cannot wait.

Time for an update! (: I was at Changi Village just now for dinner. Why Changi Village, you might ask. Because my friend is ah gua! HAHAHA. I'm just kidding. No offense to all the ah guas out there! And no offense to Juliana, I wasn't refering to you, really I swear! *innocent smile* Anyway, we were at Jacob's Cafe 'cause Juliana wanted to have dinner there as her birthday celebration. I think I quite like that place. Its a cosy small cafe, with a country-ish interior. The food wasn't too bad, quite nice in fact, even though its not fantastic or anything like that. But, if you guys ever go there, please go for al fresco dining. LOL. We were so stupid to sit inside, because later on, we realised that their kitchen is like open concept kind of thing? There's no door separating their small kitchen from the dining area inside. So yes, the smart asses that we were, wondering why nobody wants to sit inside for the air-conditioner, went home smelling like we just went for a barbeque. I bet the people sitting outside were mocking us. HAHAHA. Stupidity aside, I have to say that their service is good. (: All their wait staff looks so happy to be there, LOL. After our dinner, they gave us each a miniature bottle of tabasco sauce as souveneir, can you believe it? The bottle is damn cute. I think its to reward us for being so willing to be near them, sitting inside the cafe. Haha. But we sat there until almost closing time, and we kept laughing like mad somemore. I suppose we made a nuisance out of ourselves. The people probably had enough of us and actually gave us the miniature tabasco sauce as a hint for us to leave.

Sho-sho-shokudo! )
On a side note, I hate to generalise, but from what I've observed, Singaporeans are always the ones being damn particular about service standards when they themselves treat the wait staff like inferior beings? Talking to the wait staff curtly or rudely doesn't make them want to serve you on hand and foot, please. I don't like how everytime there's something, be it the food, or the service, that we're not satisfied with, the first thing we think of is to complain? I don't deny that there are moments when I felt like complaining before, but hey, it is not always the service staff's fault okay. Sometimes shit happens, so just be more considerate and deal with it.

This week is really bad. I've been skipping my lessons like nobody's business. And you know why? Its because of sleep. Yes, that cursed word, SLEEP. It seems impossible to wake up on time these days. On Tuesday, I didn't go for HL103 lecture 'cause I woke up with a headache (not enough sleep 'cause I slept too late). On Wednesday, I didn't go for my morning tutorials 'cause I couldn't wake up again. And that was because I was sneezing like mad for a few hours in the middle of the night, so I didn't really sleep. And today...I was supposed to go for HW111 tutorial in the afternoon. But Nat and I decided to take a short nap first. Haha! What a joke. It became a long afternoon nap instead. By the time I woke up, class started already.

Sigh. I should really stop this. Maybe sleeping earlier than 2am or 3am every night would help. (: I think I have skipped enough classes to last me the entire lifetime man. I'm so ashamed of myself. HAHAHA. I need a few good smacks the next time I skip class because of sleeping.

On a side note, Shokudo is a nice restaurant! (: Its something like Marche, just that it serves Japanese food instead. I think I like it better than Marche though. There seems to be a wider variety, and I think it is slightly cheaper than Marche. I can't wait to go there again to try other food! And yeah, I enjoyed myself yesterday with XJ and Cher at Shokudo. Good food, fun company. (:

But it also reminds me. I miss having dinner with Nat and Janesa. ): I think the last time we had dinner together was that time at Cafe Cartel? Was it? Okay anyway, Janesa Wong, you owe us dinner when you come back. And we haven't go for our TW trip. Tskkk. See lah. Pang seh us for so long. Hahaha.
