" 什么是生活?
  什么是生存?
  什么又是造成生活与生存的矛盾? "

这就是 华丽上班族 之 生活与生存 想表达的.

In the urban jungle that is the office, its a dog-eat-dog world out there where only the fittest survive. Design for Living laid the concepts of 'living' and 'surviving' next to each other, showing the difference between the two. Plenty of mind games and manipulation, stepping over relationships, creating relationships, just to climb to the top/remain at the top. Its Darwinism in the modern context.

I wanted to rave about it last night, but by the time I reached home and settled down and do what I always do whenever I come online, it was time to sleep. So now...the enthusiasm has slightly died down a little. LOL. But still, I have to put this down for memory's sake.

DESIGN FOR LIVING WAS FREAKING DAMN GOOD.

putting this under a cut so you can...skip the rant )

DIM SUM DOLLIES WAS HILARIOUS. Actually, make that IS HILARIOUS. 'Cause I'm like still smiling to myself at some of their stupid puns. HAHAHA. Their puns are so lame but smart that you can't help but laugh. I shall try to summarise it as briefly as possible. (:

Dim sum for today include:
+ LO MAI GUYS. Shit this seriously cracked me up like nobody's business. The Dim Sum Dollies had 6 male dancers, and when they were trying to tell the audience what kind of dim sum each of them are, they said the 6 macho-looking guys behind them were LO MAI GUYS (Lo mai gai, you know, the glutinous rice?). LOL.
+ Sang Nila [Utama] was gila and he likes to relak one corner.
+ Spice girls, literally. They were dressed as different spices. Ready to see the world and tour the world. The world tour bit was really hilarious. And, when Emma Yong, dressed as a ginger, walked out slowly, someone (I can't rmbr who) asked, 'why are you walking so GINGER-ly?' AHAHAH.
+ DVD pirates. Dirty, Very Dirty pirates. They're real pirates, with a ship and Captain Jack Shallow. LOL. The part when they talk about increasing the pay of the head pirates of the ship was so funny! 'You wouldn't want your mother and sister to work as maids on other pirates' ships right!' Increasing their pay will be beneficial to all the pirates under them leh! So familiar right. LOL.
+ Sarong Party Girl, literally again. They had sarongs, and they wanted ang mohs. HAHAHA.
+ Combining everything to become the 'Integrated Resorts'.
+ the Japanese pilots! Their accents was darn good.
+ the nuns (dressed like those in Sound of Music) and the convent schoolgirl (in the convent uniform and all)! Its funny how stuff that are really literal makes me LOL. And the convent schoolgirl's name is Maria. Just like The Sound of Music too. HAHAHA.
+ Kampungs also kenna en-bloc! LOL.
+ 3 girls in uniforms that suspiciously resembles Chung Cheng High's idolizing LKY. Its amazing how they sang about LKY without even mentioning his name. Yet everyone gets it. The song's name is called Luckily, or rather Lucky-ly(Lee). LOL. So they had words in the song that all became adverbs because they keep add '-ly(Lee)' to them. I thought it was damn witty. Hahaha. I mean, no normal person could have come up with that. They were so enthu they even had poms poms to wave and jump about.
+ The Malaysia Pageant! Which Miss Singapore got kicked out. HAHAHA. The last part had that 6 guys in pageant gowns, dancing together! So you can see their muscular legs peeking out from the gowns with high slits everytime they move. LOL.

Ah everyone should have caught this. They're like the funniest people, man. Hossan Leong was genius too. And there were so many impersonations! Do you know that Mao Ze Dong actually got the idea of VIOLENT revolution from GANDHI? HAHAHAHA. And Pam Oei's Peranakan and Malay accent is like super good, its hilarious! I want to see her as the parking lot attendant again! Emma Yong's British accent was funny too. Too bad I didn't get the bit with the Cantonese. Haha. This was about the history of Singapore, (but a more nonsensical version) but I thought it was so smart the way they can put in stuff about our current affairs too. LOL. It was really funny. You should be able to tell by the number of times I have LOL-ed and HAHAHAHA-ed. (:

Edit: I just realised today's the 29th of February! According to Catherine Lim's book A Leap of Love, and the movie, The Leap Years, today's the day when girls can ask guys to do anything and they can't refuse, 'cause its an old tradition! Quick, ask the guys you know to...I don't know, go to your house and be maids for a day or something. LOL. Hmm.

HAPPY LEAP YEAR DAY!

(If there's such a thing.Haha.)

I am back from watching Beauty World! (: And to all those who aren't going to watch it, ahhh you're missing out! Because my money was totally worth it. I bought the $80 ticket, I think it was Category 2. For those who wants to catch it, 3rd, 4th and 5th are considered previews, so the pricing is $110(VIP), $90, $80, $60, $40, $25(Restricted view). After the preview nights, the tickets are a little more expensive. Oh and there's 10% discount for students. (:

I shall not lie to myself or to you all that everything was perfect. Firstly, because today was like the first night that they're performing in front of an audience, I'm guessing it won't be as good as it might be after performing for a week? I'm just guessing lah, since there might be newbies in the cast this time (like Daren Tan). Secondly, I didn't like the ending. I will not spoil it for you guys, but it wasn't like how I expected, or wanted it to be. ): Oh well. Lastly, Daren Tan as Ah Hock was a bit stiff and wasn't really natural. Ah Hock is supposed to be an Ah Beng, yes, but I think he's supposed to be a nice gentleman at heart too. At least, that was how I imagined him to be when I read the story/script/whatever of Beauty World from a library book that comprised several local plays ages ago. So, I wasn't too impressed with his acting, that portrayed Ah Hock as a one-dimensional character who's just Beng and in love with Ivy. I thought he could use more variations in tone and actions. But since its his first time doing theatre, or even acting, I shall cut him some slack. I guess it wasn't that bad as a first-timer. Just that Ah Hock is supposed to be one of the main characters too, so I can't help but notice. I hope I'm not being too harsh in judging his acting. /: Anyway, I think he should loosen up and relax more, maybe that'll help a little.

But OMG it was great! So fun, I enjoyed it. (: "Cabaret! Beauty World! Cha Cha Cha!" HAHAHA. The main female lead, Elena Wang acting as Ivy Chan Poh Choo, CAN REALLY SING. I love her voice, its like crystal clear, man. She acted her small town girl role really well. Same goes for the No.1 Cabaret girl, LuLu, acted by Denise Tan. Haha, that bitchy role is so darn believable. Acting chops aside, Beauty World was like really one big comedy. It was freaking hilarious. At first I was quite bothered by all the Singlish accents that are quite in your face, but then later I realised that since the setting is Singapore, and in the 60s', it makes sense for them to speak with those accents. The Singlish accent adds on to the comical element of the musical. Like, seriously. Haha. And there are a few cheesy scenes that are super funny. Ivy's penpal, Rosemary, was quite funny, with her "Goodness gracious!" and there was this scene that made everyone cheer and clap for her. Haha. Irene Ang acting as some cleaner called Wan Choo was genius please. Her random spouts of Cantonese and Canto accent were damn hilarious. Frankie, played by Dwayne Tan, was comical as well, almost on par with Wan Choo. Okay, actually its his love song for Ivy that's funny. And as for all the dialogue, and stage setting, needless to say they were good lah. I mean, all that humour...must be the dialogue right? (: About the music and the songs, I loved it. The band was *thumbs up*. It should be quite difficult trying to coordinate with the actors/actresses. And the band wasn't placed below like most plays/musicals that I've seen. (: You must see where they place the band and how they make the band like really part of the musical. There are some fun songs, some hilarious ones, some that touched my heart. You have to watch it for yourself to know what I'm talking about. The flow of the plot was nice, it didn't feel draggy for me, even though it started at about 8.10pm or 8.15pm, and ended at about 11pm, with an interval of 20 minutues. I didn't feel bored or sleepy at ANY point of Beauty World. Overall, a super fun musical to watch! Catch it, people! (:

I thought I should update a little before fully immersing myself in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. I've started on it already and... okay I shall not spoil it for anyone. haha! Although I'm rather tempted to do so.
So, nothing much interesting if you asked me, just what I did this week:

Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix
I told myself not to expect too much from this movie, because the first few weren't as good as the books, naturally. So I wasn't too disappointed when I caught it with Jie Shi at PS on Tuesday. Haha. But! I couldn't help but be quite annoyed that they took out the Quidditch part! Oh man. I like watching Quidditch. ): So cannot see Ron trying out for Keeper lah. TSK. And the way the whole story flowed was a little weird. I'm just glad I read the book because the whole story won't be that easy to follow if I didn't. At some parts I wonder if JS really understand what's going; the cut-and-edit was just a tad too random. Sub-plots and dialogue were chucked in without much explanation. So lots of the time it was really quite random okay. For example, they didn't even develop the relationship before Harry and Cho, and suddenly they were kissing under the mistletoe?! In the book at least they talked and there's more interaction. Sure, they showed that Cho and Harry like each other by subtle hints and stuff, but it wouldn't hurt to just have a bit more of Harry and Cho time before they got together right? I shall just take it that their hormones were really raging. And poor Ron, he didn't seem to have much character in this movie. You can guess what I'm going to say again. Yes! If only they included the part about him trying out for Keeper. hahaha. Dolores Umbridge was good though, I like how that actress (I forgot her name) portrayed that character. She was certainly irritating as hell. (: That laugh, OMG. I would have slapped her if I'm Harry.

KBox on Thursday
Everytime I go Suntec with Janesa (this time with Nat also), we will surely eat Kenny Rogers. I have no idea why. Can we please eat something different next time? Thanks. (: And Kbox session with them, plus Belle, was an overload of Kone songs. LOL. Since Jan really likes them, I can only hope that they release a new album soon so that we can at least listen to some new songs instead of the same old ones each time we go sing together. -crosses fingers-

King Lear
YAY my money was worth it! A few parts were a little different from what we read (e.g the death of the Fool), and some characters were not like how I imagined (e.g Cordelia), but i guess everyone has their own interpretation of the play and characters. (: The two sisters acted really well. I especially liked the parts when they fought over Edmund. Oh and the costumes, so pretty! Haha. Of course, King Lear was definitely the highlight of the play, to me at least. I mean, Ian McKellen, hello? Do I need to say more? And Edmund was really like a bonus. (: Those who were at the play, you know what i mean. LOL.

Dinner at Bugis
And Angela's leaving tomorrow morning to go overseas for attachment for 2 months! I will miss that girl. We went Bugis last night to have dinner together before she leaves. And we tried V8 Cafe for the first time! The food was not too bad. Even the starter, onion soup, was nice. (: Just don't order the beef lasagne, it was so small. Even smaller than Pizza Hut's. The steak, as shown below, was quite nice. But of course, cannot be compared to some other better restaurants lah.

We wanted to go to the Esplanade after dinner, because there was National Day Rehearsal yesterday and we thought we might be able to catch the fireworks. But after taking neoprints (yes i can't believe we went to take neoprints, we were like outdated aunties trying to figure out that particular machine), it was already about 9 plus. The fireworks have already disappeared to outer space. So we went to TCC because we couldn't stop talking (like aunties again). And that's when the real crapping really begins. Hahaha. It was funny because we wanted to stay there and talk, yet still full from dinner to order alot of food. So we tried to order 1 by 1, like after somebody eat finish then order the next one. TCC's service wasn't very good though, the waitress seems to want us to get lost asap, she keep coming over to try to clear our plates and stuff even though the food wasn't finished yet. And their dessert sucks. If you've got money to waste, you can try the Royal Chocolate Mousse. So yeap, that was our 'eventful' night yesterday. SEE YOU 2 MONTHS LATER, ANGELA! (okay I don't even know if she'll read this.) WE"LL MISS YOU! (:
