I just read The Straits Times’ 44 Reasons to Love Singapore (or something like that). So I’m going to make my own list now! Yup, here's my national day post. Just a few off my head 'cause I'm too lazy to think right now. (LMAO LOOK AT HOW BORED I AM. NAH, I LOVE SINGAPORE TOO OKAY. And by the way, my TVants doesn’t seem to be working but I want to watch Inkigayo LIVE. BOO.)

Reasons to Love Singapore (for me, at least) :

all in the name of national day )

HAPPY NATIONAL DAY, SINGAPORE AND FELLOW SINGAPOREANS. :D

LOL I totally abandoned this because of Inkigayo. I certainly know my priorities. INKIGAYO WAS AWESOME TODAY, BY THE WAY, EVEN THOUGH I ONLY STARTED WATCHING IT HALFWAY. THANKS, [info]heesica , for the link to watch it. Yay. I need to re-watch those performances in HD.

HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR, PEOPLE! (:

Can't believe CNY went by just like that. It felt really short...maybe because this year it seems like we only have two days of holidays. (Since 除夕 is on a Sunday, 初三 must go back school already. SAD.)

除夕's reunion dinner was at Marina Mandarin's this year, since the one that we always went to at Chinatown closed down or something. LOL. If I didn't remember wrongly, the restaurant was called Peach Blossoms. The food was quite good, and the service staff were friendly and professional. (: I can't believe we went to River Ang Bao after dinner, (because of my parents, of course) which had ABSOLUTELY NOTHING AT ALL AND I WAS ALMOST BORED TO TEARS. And this year, again, after I reached home, the tv was switched on to the Channel 8's CNY show..and OMG. Same thing as last year..lip-synching to CNY songs. LOL. Seriously, I wonder why they bother. Even if they absolutely suck at singing, I think I would rather hear them live.

And why do people keep sending messages like 'Happy 牛 (niu = new) Year!' and saying things like '牛转乾坤 (扭转乾坤)' when they have to wish the tv audience? I kept waiting for something different but nope.

Oh but one thing I learnt these few days was that we should call it lunar new year instead of chinese new year because its not just the Chinese celebrating...but the Koreans too. LOL.

As for my new year...9 houses yesterday plus 4 houses today. I would say that is some hardcore visiting that we do every year. Note that we only visited our father's side of relatives...and guess what, we didn't even finish going to all my relatives' houses. LOL. It was fun though.  I think its because we all move in herds, LOL. Its a little strange. Its like, the same group of us are just going from one house to another. But it was more enjoyable 'cause there are just so many of us. There were some extremely lol moments that only my relatives/cousins are capable of.

Can't wait to meet the girls tomorrow after class. (Yes I'm hoping that I'll go for class. Hahaha.)

I'm so tired now...I'm going to sleep.

And after CNY, its going to be school + cca all over again.

HAPPY NEW YEAR, MY FRIENDS! (:

Goodbye, 2008. It was an alright year, I suppose, nothing earth-shattering happened to me. 2008 went by a little too quickly, but nevermind, now we can only look forward to 2009.

my new year resolutions...again. )

and to you )

Yup, and I thank God for both the significant and non-significant happenings in 2008, 'cause they made me what I am now. I think... some perspectives have definitely changed, in terms of the way the world works, and how people are, and I like to believe that I've grown a little wiser as another year has passed now. (Well my birthday was just over one month plus ago, so forgive me if this sounds like some birthday speech. LOL.)

So for better or for worse, its 2009 now! Hope everyone's 2009 will be a better year! (:

I LOVE YOU PEOPLE! (:

This year's Christmas was quite enjoyable for me. I'm not the kind to do hardcore partying, so being with my loved ones is more than enough for me. (:

some pictures )

Last night was dinner at Crystal Jade buffet at Holland V with Xiao Ji and the rest. It was great fun even though I nearly blew out my brains with a gun (if i had one) trying to coordinate everybody's schedule. AND ALSO. I DIDN'T GET TO WATCH AUSTRALIA. BOO HOO HOO. But alright, the company over dinner made up for it, I guess. I swear nobody can put me in such good mood except for these people. No wonder Serene said I was deprived. ): LOL. Stupid Juliana couldn't make it. She was probably busy serving ang moh guys while we were stuffing our faces with xiao long baos. (serving drinks lah! what were you thinking??) And yeah, we forgot to take pictures again. But the buffet was very worth it! Price not very ex, endless xiao long baos, and its steamboat style so its not just about eating dim sum. Angela had a fun time ordering like a million fishballs. And next time, Serene will only eat mutton AFTER we are done with eating, so that she doesn't make the entire soup base AND THE REST OF OUR FOOD smell like mutton. Hahaha. Like what Xiao Ji said, we upgraded from having steamboat at Marina Bay to steamboat at Crystal Jade. LOL.

Extremely LOL moment of the night: We finished dinner and was waiting for ZS to come pick XJ and the rest of us, so we were just walking around. We went past this restaurant with lots of pictures with celebrities plastered outside, probably to show how popular it is. So we were all like, scrutinising the pictures lah.

Cher: "Hey look! There's Chen WeiLian in the picture!"
Xiao Ji: "Wheerrreeeee......"
Cher: *pointing at Chen WeiLian* "There!!!! YOU BLIND AH?!"
AHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAA.
Xiao Ji: "Why you point at him and ask that. Very sensitive one leh."
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAA.
I NEARLY DIED LAUGHING.

(omg, even now i'm still giggling to myself as I typed the above. can you imagine how hard I was trying to hold in my laughter when I took the bus on my own back home last night? it doesn't help that the convo kept replaying in my mind.)

Okay, enough of my verbal diarrhoea.

HAPPY 43RD BIRTHDAY, SINGAPORE!

This year's national day was a quiet affair with us watching the parade on tv at my aunt's house. I guess the good thing was that it was an excuse to have steamboat! (: LOL. But watching the parade kind of made me wish I was there. Or even near there. And to think I was complaining last year that it was so freaking crowded and sweaty around the Esplanade when we went to watch fireworks. Sigh stupid Janesa. If only she's here I'm sure we'll make plans again. Hahaha.

Sighting of the day:

2 kids behaving like lovebirds on a bus. Hahaha. I swear they look like the most the most, Secondary 1. (Plus the guy boy was holding a BEIGE ezlink card.)

So...they're still at the age where, you know, girls look older than guys 'cause guys are still skinny, puny, little asses? At first when they came up the bus and sat in front of me I thought they were siblings. I was still thinking to myself, wah the sister so nice, bring her brother out. Haha. Then they started to act like they're not siblings. (I'm sorry if they really are siblings. I don't normally see brothers and sisters being so touchy feely, but if they are then.....okaaay.) And I wanted to LOL when the girl had to slide down so much on her seat in order to put her head on that boy's small shoulder. I could tell she was pretty uncomfortable because she sat up a few times, and also kept adjusting herself. I wonder if she had a crick in her neck after the entire journey. Hahaha.

Yup. FEEL THE LOVE. It's National Day! (:

P.S: If I hear this year's National Day song one more time, Shine For Singapore or something, I think I'm going to start hitting people.

Quick, guess where the quote for my subject is from! HAHAHA.

To all the couples truly, madly, deeply in love with each other, YAY to you! I wish you all forever 恩恩爱爱..早生贵子. (:
To all the unhappy and bitter singles, I wish you all the best! Your Prince Charming will come by on a white horse soon. But maybe you should do something about it instead of building castles in the air. Yes the reference to fairytales (castles=fairytales, geddit?) was intended, to tally with the Prince Charming thing. I can be too lame for my own good sometimes.
To all the happy singles, firstly, high five! (: I don't have to say much. You know The One will show up one day.

Today is the day when guys spend a bomb trying to impress their girls. When girls carry their flowers around proudly like trophies. Which is quite sweet and amusing at the same time. I went to Jurong Point just now, and the place was super crowded. I don't know why. I would have thought most couples would go town or even somewhere special that they don't usually go. Maybe the couples like to keep things simple. Or maybe everywhere else is crowded. So got no choice but to eat fast food. (Then again, can't they make reservations??) Somehow, eating at KFC/Macs/Mos Burger with a giant bouquet of roses in your lap just seems weird. Its probably just me though. I'm not saying couples must definitely go somewhere atas and expensive. A meal at hawker centre with a whole table full of food can be enjoyable and different too. Fast food just seems a bit too..everyday. If you get what I mean.

1st Moral of the story: Couples, you don't have to go out to have a special vday. Can stay at home and cook for each other! So fun lor. Tsk. If you two die die want to eat fast food, maybe can takeaway and go somewhere more romantic? Since you can hardly hear yourselves in the KFC filled with hungry, screaming kids anyway. Why have a quick and silent dinner when you can take your time and have great conversation with your partner, right? Use your brains a little more! (:

2nd Moral of the story: Those with no dates, don't go out on vday too. You'll have trouble finding somewhere to have dinner at. Even at fast food restaurants. 'Cause of so many uncreative couples. HAHAHA.

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!
LOVE ALL YOU PEOPLE READING THIS. (:

Is everybody like, sick of reading about how other people spent Chinese New Year already? Guess what. I'm going to talk about Chinese New Year too!! LOL. Okay I'm sure you don't need me to tell you that you are welcome to skip this entry actually, its no loss, even for a kaypoh person. Haha! 'Cause my CNY was just like any other CNY.

除夕 on Wednesday
* I couldn't wake up in time to go to school, so I skipped my HL103 and HL105 tutorials. (Yes, I will try my best to go for lectures and tutorials for now on. I think I've skipped enough.)
* I woke up really late, and rotted a few hours away in front of the computer until late afternoon.
* I took a nap and then it was time for reunion dinner at some restaurant near Chinatown! (: The portions were reasonable for 4 people, but somehow I was the only one who attacked my noodles eagerly when it came(2nd last course); my parents and my sister were full already.
* I went back to my computer when I reached home, and Channel 8 was on. I glanced at it occasionally and saw Mediacorp artistes doing stupid stuff and lip-synching to new year songs on screen. I couldn't believe they had to lip-synch to new year songs. I mean, haven't you been singing them since primary school??!!

初一 on Thursday
* My parents always leave the house in the late afternoon on the first day of CNY. And...I had to go to the airport in the evening. So my sister and I decided to just tag along my cousins and squeeze into their cars to go visiting after a few of them came to my house at 11 plus in the morning.
* We went visiting at relatives' places until the evening, when I took a bus to the airport.
* I met Belle, Lydia and Glenn to send Janesa off. ): And at that moment when it really hits me that she's leaving for Australia, and that I'm not going to see her for many months, I just felt damn sad. ): I am so going to miss Janesa.
 * My cousin(the one whom I did recept for at his wedding recently) came all the way to the airport to pick me up, to go to my 2nd aunt's place for steamboat dinner with everybody! (: Like, with most of my relatives. The table wasn't big enough, so it was like, a few rounds. I love steamboat. With so many people too. (:
* We went to 2 more houses after dinner before going back home.
* Some relatives came after that. LOL my sister and I thought nobody was coming already so we took out all our ang pows and were counting them in our room. Then suddenly we hear the front door open. My sister got so flustered that she quickly lock the door first. She don't want people to know that we were doing such stuff the moment we reached home. HAHA.

初二 on Friday
* Woke up relatively early to go visiting again.
* Went for lunch at my 5th aunt's place with all my other relatives. And we rotted there for a few hours, I don't know why. I think the adults were too caught up in their gossips.
* More visiting after that.
* My dad decided to go Mustafa to get a camera, so that he can use when he leave for his China trip the next day. And since all shopping centres were still closed, the only choice was Mustafa. It was madness in there. My dad, my mum and my sister were like, at each other's throats by the time we leave the place. I was the only sane one left. LOL.

初三 on Saturday
* Finally can sleep in.
* Met up in the afternoon with a few cousins (since many backed out at the last minute, tsk tsk!!) for singing session at Partyworld in town.
* We went to catch Kungfu Dunk after that, without dinner because everywhere was crowded. ):
* Dinner at HK Cafe after movie.
* My cousins came over to my house and we were up all night until 4 plus when we walked over to another cousin's place. Prata and beer at like 5 plus in the morning doesn't go too well with my stomach, because my stomach is still feeling funny.
*Slept at 7 plus in the morning. Was too lazy to go out after waking up.

Haha, so basically all the places that I went visiting were my dad's side of relatives. I think my mum's side of relatives went back to Malaysia to visit other relatives. And that pretty much summed up my CNY. It was fun though. (: I love Chinese New Year, actually. Haha. Sigh, now the short break is over. ): I should get back to my work.

HAPPY NEW YEAR, EVERYBODY! (: Hope 2008 will be more fun, more interesting, and just...better than 2007! I LOVE ALL OF YOU READING THIS OKAY. MANY HUGS AND KISSES! (:

2007 had been really interesting. Especially memorable were these:
+ Having an extremely long holiday from end of November 06 till start of Aug 07. I'm guessing we won't experience something like that ever again.
+ Getting back our Alevels results. I can still remember the emotional rollercoaster ride.
+ Took Japanese classes with Nat, Janesa and Belle. LOL. All the rushing in an attempt to get to lessons on time, the homework-copying (*coughs* Janesa *coughs*), the oral and written test, and of course, the learning process. (:
+ HK trip with Nat and Janesa.
+ Phantom of the Opera musical and King Lear play. I really really liked King Lear.
+ Went for 罗志祥's SPESHOW and 舞所不在 autograph sessions. I just realised they were all in 2007! One in Feb, one in Dec. SPESHOW autograph session was my first ever autograph session. LOL.
+ Saw 小猪, 罗志祥 in person for the first time.
+ Went for 罗志祥's Show On Stage concert. That's my first ever concert too. (:
+ Getting into NTU and experiencing university life.
+ Went to the Science Centre, Singapore after like what, 10 years? LOL. Around there lah.
+ Had my first ever admin/office job for about, 2 weeks plus.

Okay, so all these can't really be considered life-changing experiences or anything like that. But they made my 2007 fun and memorable. (: I didn't really have any New Year resolutions for 2007, because most likely they won't be achieved. But for 2008, I think I shall try my luck.
1) I must try to save more money than 2007. (LOL. This should be easy, since I didn't save much, if any at all, in 2007. Excluding my pay of course. I meant like on regular basis.)
2) I must not procrastinate so much, and start on my work earlier.
3) I must try to be a better person. (As lame as this sounds, I'm actually serious. Haha.)

Okay I have ranted enough about how I spent my New Year Eve. I'm off! Have a great 2008! (:

My job has ended officially! (: I'm so happy because I can finally sleep in for a week before school starts on the 7th. It was a good working experience, and I had an incredibly nice boss and collegues. I'm also better friends with Microsoft Excel now. Haha. I'm quite glad I took on the job, minus the fact that travelling time was way too long so I had to wake up early every morning.

2008 will be here soon! *We wish you a Merry Christmas...And a HAPPY NEW YEAR!"

P.S: There is somthing baffling me. What is it with guys' dressing nowadays? They are dressing like girls! And I'm refering to those guys in bright-coloured skinny jeans and equally blinding cardigans. ?! Its fine if they like what the girls are wearing, but it is so not okay if they are taking it too far by having the bright-coloured skinny jeans clash with the cardigan. And to these clones, someone should seriously give them a few fashion tips in order not to cause visual harrassment to others.

Since I'm not a fashionista, I only have 2 very-DUH-but-obviously-overlooked pieces of advice to these homogenous kids:
1) Please see if your various articles of clothing clash with each other before you leave the house
2) If you're ultra skinny, can you please don't wear skinny jeans? Unless you like your legs to look like toothpicks. But...why would a normal guy want to look like a toothpick?? And if that pair of jeans is too tight for comfort, erm, maybe a bigger size or straight cuts would be better? (: I trust that you have enough sense to not want strangers wincing at the sight of you in severely "breath-taking" skinny jeans.

Seriously.
