TWILIGHT.

To be honest, I was actually quite excited about this book because I heard rave reviews about it. It was a No. 1 bestseller or something like that. And when I saw the book in bookstores, I was dying to get it because I really like the book cover. HAHAHA. But its a nice book cover!! So anyway I got the book after my exams. AND GUESS WHAT. SO DISAPPOINTING. Its kind of a lame book actually. I have no idea what's the big deal with this book. I was expecting it to be Anne Rice-like, but no it wasn't. I guess I would have liked it back during secondary school though.

For the benefit of those who don't know about this series by Stephenie Meyer, she actually wrote 3 books already. Namely, Twilight (as shown here), New Moon, and Eclipse. The books are from the female main character's POV, Bella. To be very brief, the series is about her getting to know a family of vampires and falling in love with one of the cute ones, Edward. All in all, Bella just makes me roll my eyes. Argh. I can't stand the fact that she is soo in love with Edward. No, actually being in love is fine. But the way she behave its like, Edward, Edward, Edward. Her whole life revolves around him. So in New Moon, when Edward left, she was like moping around. -roll eyes- That part was darn boring. Anyway, the emotions portrayed in the book are so unrealistic. Plus the way the plot moves is quite fan-fiction, in my opinion. I hope Stephenie Meyer's fans don't come after me, man. Haha. So far, I don't think I've heard anyone criticising this series. /: But I just don't like it. Maybe I'm weird, I don't know

My sister loves it though. I only bought Twilight, but she couldn't stand not completing the whole thing so she went ahead to buy New Moon and Eclipse. LOL. But even she agrees that they're not very good reads, she just thinks they're entertaining. -.- Since she bought them, I thought I'll just finish it up. I'm done with New Moon already. I guess I don't mind reading them, but gosh, I can't get over the fact that its seriously very fan-fiction.

And now they're going to have a movie based on this popular bestseller. Twilight will be released in December 2008. I hope the movie will be better than the book. At least for a movie, it can't be too fanfic right?? (: Bella will be acted by Kristen Stewart, and Edward will be acted by Robert Pattinson, aka Cedric Diggory! HAHAHA. I wonder how the movie will turn out.

Moral of the story: Do not judge a book by its cover, literally.

On a side note, I watched The Virgin Suicides this afternoon! And that was a good movie! I am going to kope the soundtrack from Nat now. Haha! *looks through her LJ posts*

Edit: Ah I wanted to show you guys the covers of New Moon and Eclipse. But the images like got something wrong. Oh well nevermind. (:

it's uhhh..... targeted at teen readers i guess. .____. So you're not weird for not liking the book and i think you're very right on the count that you might have liked it in secondary school.
maybe that's the main appeal to those people you see

I've not read it personally, but the plot irks me. .___.

OF COURSE IT IS.

With good writing, you can turn a really plain, normal plot into a good read~
